TNO
TNO (Nederlandse organisatie voor toegepast natuurwetenschappelijk onderzoek) is a research organisation with a staff of 3,000 employees, mostly researchers and consultants in many technological fields of interest. In Europe TNO is among the top suppliers of technological knowledge and it functions as an intermediary between basic research organisations and industry. By translating scientific knowledge into practical applications, TNO contributes to the innovation capacity of businesses and government. TNO is involved in many international projects (about 30% of the market turnover), including EU-funded collaborations.
Within the expertise area Earth, Life and Social Sciences the expertise group Risk Analysis for Products In Development (RAPID) works on all aspects of risk assessment and management, investigating the quality and safety of chemical substances, nanoparticles, food ingredients/products and drugs. RAPID focuses on industrial problems within three sectors: chemistry, pharmaceuticals and food. The work has a large focus in data collection, sharing, storing and analysing with regard to modelling activities. In the last decades our work extended from bulk chemicals to nanoparticles.
